Contracted Water Use
The Nevada Creek reservoir level dropped off the spillway late yesterday, Wednesday the 16th. Upstream flows continue to decrease at a steady rate. While irrigation demand is still generally light, there is no substantive precipitation in the forecast over the next two weeks. This indicates that we can expect to begin depleting the reservoir storage from this point forward for the remaining irrigation season. Therefore, beginning this upcoming Monday, June the 21st, all non-decreed water usage will be designated as contract water. Also, any new non-decreed water turned on between now and Monday the 21st will be charged as contracted water.
Decreed Water Use
While we have been on high water thus far this spring, I have only been updating the Current Status of Decreed Rights on a weekly basis. Now that we are dropping off of this spring runoff period, I will begin updating this status on a near daily basis. It is important for users of decreed water to consult this status, before turning on, to ensure that their specific water right(s) are “good” at any given time according to the available flows and current usage of other, more senior, water rights. You also need to inform me when you plan to turn on, or off, so that your use can be applied to my water budget at any given time. Please also note that if a water right is “not good” at any given time due to a lack of available natural creek flow, water for that right will not be released from the reservoir to service it.
Thank you…
