Water Update 5-30-23

Welcome to the 2023 water year. As most water user’s already know, thus far this season we have been operating under “flood water” conditions since starting the canals earlier this month. However, the snowpack is now mostly gone and inflows to the reservoir have now slowed to be near the current demand for downstream irrigation. There is rain forecast for later this week, possibly heavy at times, but minus any additional precipitation I would anticipate that reservoir spill will come to an end soon. We’ll see how things go this week and I will post further notification at that time when we revert back to “contract” water use.

As we reach the end of reservoir spill, I would like to remind all water user’s of the importance in communicating with me before you turn on water for decreed rights on Nevada creek. As we go into a regulated creek flow, failure to do so results in other water user’s being shorted of their proper amount of water. Also, please refer to the Current Status of Irrigation Rights. I am updating that page regularly as flows & water use change.

Thank you….
